Yr 8 students were asked to create an original story to explain the rock cycle to younger students. This story about Jimmy the Limestone, follows the changes limestone - a sedimentary rock can undergo to become volcanic.
We recently visited Tanna Island in Vanuatu and spent two hours four-wheel-driving out to one of the most accessible active volcanoes in the world, Mt Yasur. This short video, shows the ash plains leading up to the volcano, hear and see the sounds of the rumbling volcano and the ‘fireworks’ lava display as the sun sets. This video was filmed in October 2009, when the volcano is said to have a high level of activity.
